Unika’s new blog articles. From the engaging history of horses to action figures and myths: let’s take a ride through culture.

We are thrilled to announce Unika’s new blog articles, which will take you on a journey discovering the manifold world of one of the most fascinating animals on earth. Indeed, horses fascinate us not only because of their natural beauty, but also because of the close relationship human beings and horses have been establishing through the ages.

That is why we will take you on a ride through history.

We will also play with action figures and fly on a borderless journey with Pegasus across the enchanted lands of mythology

Retracing this noble and touching, but also real and tangible path gives even more value to Unika’s everyday passionate engagement to facilitate and improve the bond between horses and riders

Today, the anthropocentric aspect of this bond is less and less important, while the attention is more and more focused on that magnificent animal that has played an important role in human’s economic success.

At Unika, research and development have always been part of our mission, and have always focused on improving the relationship between humans and horses. Recently, thanks to scientific researches that are more and more focused on the well-being of horses, considered as “systems”, as well as to the development of our technology, we have managed to optimise horses’ nutrition and care

That is why going through the history of the bond between humans and horses touches us so much: it allows us to understand all progresses made even better and, at the same time, to learn about foods and remedies that are fundamental to horses, and are sustainable both for their bodies and for the environment.

Our new articles. Horses in history: a fascinating journey

The articles about “horses in history: a fascinating journey” aim to help us understand the historical and complex bond between humans and horses, our best travel companions, which have shared our path since time immemorial.

Such articles also aim to allow you to live the adventure of flying through the main stages of the history of horses, meeting two inseparable companions and learning about their deeds of bravery and their partnership, which marked both European and non-European political and economic history.

Humans and horses began sharing their paths thousands of years ago, and travelled through history and prehistory together. Images of warriors riding horses date back even to the early prehistoric times, when horses’ both real and symbolic importance was already evident.

In more recent history, medieval soldiers were, without a doubt, the strongest example of the partnership between man and horses. Nevertheless, this relationship has deep roots in history and dates back to nomads living on the steppes, who were the first to domesticate horses.

A world on horseback, from animation to action figures: let’s dive into the world of toys

Travelling through history and epics, through the analysis of the sings of the most recent trends reflecting into children’s animation and into the most popular toys, we’ll also see how horses’ sacredness persists.

In other words, horses’ sacredness and fascinating aura still persist in Western adults and children’s collective imagination!

Indeed, such world doesn’t belong to children alone, but to all horse enthusiasts, who, even as adults, admire and keep on collecting action figures that, sometimes, are worth millions. And that, with the help of the internet, with its testimonials and worldwide events. From Micronauts to Barbie’s stables and My little pony… the path is long and paved with success; and we will analyse it from different points of view.

Horses in mythology: without geographical and temporal boundaries

Every civilization has its own myths and legends about horses. Tales that elders, namely the wisemen, have passed down to younger people and that have persisted through time and space. Tales based on horses, which have been sharing environments and exploits with mankind since time immemorial.

Horses: fascinating animals, companions of men and gods (and women, of course) whose charm comes from a mix of reality and myth, just like heroes’.

From winged horses, to unicorns and horses pulling gods’ cart, we will fly together with Pegasus, we will understand Centaurs, half horse half man creatures, and we will enter Amazons’ combative world.

Myths about horses have no geographical boundaries: they extend from North to South, from East to West all over the world and give the spirit of adventure, nobility and fierceness to every tale and to all people travelling with horses through epics.

Such epic adventure still continues thought the colours and lines of the most beautiful animated films, such as, first and foremost, Spirit, but also Pocahontas, the strong and brave animal-lover princess.

Though history, myths, toys and animations, we will explore together the world of one of the most fascinating animals ever, which is a true archetype present in several civilizations, who shared its ride to glory.

It takes guts and liver!
